Presumably a souvenir from the site of the famous First World War battleground Found with other items in this accession, all related to RAC Rhodes. Located in a shed that had been used as a chicken coop when the donor was clearing her parents' property at Wainui on Cemetery Road. The donor's parents, Shirley and Clive Butler had no relationship to Rhodes. It is unknown how these the collection came to be in the shed. Rhodes served in the First World War from 1916-1919. His address on his military record was Duvauchelle and his father was at Benoit Street, Akaroa. |
