Miniature china mug with colour transfer print with title "The Baths, Akaroa". View looking from sea to foreshore. Image inside a green and burgundy frame with gold highlights. Base with maker's mark, a shield with crown and the "Gemma" in a diagonal. Gemma ware was made by Schmidt & Co. in Czechoslovakia. The "Gemma" shield logo was used between 1918 and 1945. |

From a family estate. Donor information: I believe it was purchased by my grandparents on a visit there sometime in the 1920's. I think that Akaroa's relatively close proximity to Christchurch ( where their family home was) and nearby close relatives who lived in Okuti Valley suggests it may have been purchased on such a visit. |
