British War Medal. Silver issue, posthumously awarded medal of L.F. Armstrong. 1 of 3. The British War Medal / '1914-1918' medal. Obverse: An Uncrowned Effigy of King George V surrounded by the legend "GEORGIVS V BRITT:OMN:REX ET IND:IMP:" Reverse: St. George on horseback facing right. The horse is trampling on the shield of the Central Powers. At the foot are a skull and crossbones, at the top there is a rising sun. Around the edge are the dates "1914" and "1918." Driver Armstrong's details around the edge. |
