Description |
Carte de visite format silver albumen print of the brick building on Beach Road. Proprietor possibly standing outside in hat (Frederick Davis?). Sign on the shop front: Peninsula Bakery. An awning hangs over the front window. One man stands in the doorway, and four children to the right - and one "ghost" child who has moved while the negative was being exposed. NB this was the building owned by William Watkins. Print mounted on card printed front and back with photographer and studio details. Thornhill Cooper only had this studio for a short time and according to Una Platts sold it in 1876. |
