1897 |
Description |
Cabinet card portrait of Frank Worsley seated in a wicker armchair, arms folded wearing double breated jacket and a cap with a badge, crown at the centre. Card mount has been trimmed and photographer's name no longer present. Mount inscr. 'Frank Worsley' in ink. Verso inscr. 'F. W. 1897' in pencil. Bullion cap badge is indistinct, but appears to comprise of a wreath, a royal crown centre with a flag behind it. John Thomson has a gap in his narrative from 1895 when Worsley left the New Zealand Shipping Company until 1899 when he was working for the New Zealand Government Steamer Service. But the badge could be for the latter. (See pp.28-9, Shackleton's Captain) Photograph processing method undetermined. |
